The 5.0-CURRENT SNAPshot release of FreeBSD is from an active
development branch which is not expected to produce a release
for some time. This line of development branched from the 4.X
line on March 13, 2000. The FreeBSD 4.X branch has been the
source of continued releases and some of the features of 5.0
have been and will continue to be back-ported.
The FreeBSD 5.0-CURRENT SNAPshots are works in progress, and
are intended solely for developers who are developing software
on FreeBSD. There are no guarantees about the stability of
these snapshot releases, although we make every attempt to
thoroughly test the releases before production.
For developers who would like a regular FreeBSD 5.0 snapshot
every 3-4 months, we also offer a subscription plan.
