About BSD Magazine, Issue 3:
BSD Magazine is a quarterly publication devoted to different
distributions of BSD, covering issues relating to FreeBSD, NetBSD,
OpenBSD, and BSD/OS. The magazine comes with a DVD with the latest BSD
distribution.
This is the third issue of BSD Magazine. This issue provides a NetBSD
4.0 DVD. Patrick Pippen shows how to install NetBSD 4.0 step by step.
Benny and Thorsten introduce the "peaceful" operating system called
MirBSD. A comparison of Opensolaris, FreeBSD 7.0 and OpenSuse 11 is
also included in this issue. In the how-to area, Eric and Michele
present how to start up the conference room and Carlos Neira starts his
series about GDB with the debugging process. In the security corner,
Henrik Lund Kramshoj goes through the steps needed to implement Prelude
IDS on NetBSD and Marko Milenovic shows the best solutions for
encryption on BSD operating systems. For those lovers of multimedia,
Play Music on Your Slug With NetBSD is presented by Donald Hayford.
Last but not least, interviews with NetBSD developers Simon Burge, Antti
Kantee and Greg Oster are provided, and Peter N.M. Hansteen reviews Dru
Lavigne's book The Best of FreeBSD Basics.
